Soapstone Sculpture

Created in the winter of 2013/14

Over several years I have experimented with many unique finishing techniques to create natural looking stone, wood, and water textures, which I have not seen before on other sculptures.

After perfecting these finishes, one at a time, I have incorporate them all together in Salmon Run to create a realistic scene, which includes both the subject matter (the bear), and its natural West Coast setting.

Using different tools, many which are hand-made by myself, and using varying degrees of oils to bring out the colour, this is what I came up with.
